Hi folks,

I’m a founder, engineering leader and wannabe writer. I co-founded Credit Kudos (acq.) and was CTO and part of the founding team at Surfboard. I’m a people-oriented CTO which means, whilst I’m more than comfortable with technical detail, I focus on the people who build the technology in an attempt to generate more leverage.

I’ve built two phenomenal teams by fostering a cohesive, productive, challenging environment in which engineers feel they can do some of the best work of their lives.

I grew up near Buxton in Derbyshire (where the water’s from) and now live on the outskirts of Cambridge. My wife Ali and I have a little boy, Jackson, who has just turned one, and a small black cockapoo, Milly, who’s just turned three. I studied Computer Science at the University of Manchester, and started my career working for Universal Music Group in London.

I’m interested in a lot of things from psychology to programming, crosswords to cooking. I plan to write about some of these things here.

Bio

Matt Schofield is an entrepreneur and engineering leader. He co-founded Credit Kudos, acquired in 2022, and was part of the founding team at Surfboard. Before moving to London and then Cambridge, he grew up in Derbyshire, and studied Computer Science at the University of Manchester.
